ABOUT THE CHEF MD

MECHELLE ACERO PALMA, MD, MMHA, PhD, DIBLM, FACLM
​Dr. Mechelle Acero Palma is a Family and Community Medicine Physician and a Lifestyle Medicine Specialist.   She finished her culinary coaching course at the Harvard School of Medicine and attended trainings at the Goldring school of Culinary Medicine under Tulane University, New Orleans USA and Natural Gourmet Institute, New York, and the Rouxbe Cooking School.  Having the passion for utilizing cooking to encourage healthy eating habits on her patients, she developed the first training design and curriculum in CULINARY MEDICINE in Asia that was launched in 2016 and is now utilized in several education platform.  She developed the Doctor's Teaching Kitchen to provide conductive venue for Nutrition Coaching and Culinary Medicine Skills Development for practitioners and patients.

​She is the President of Remnant Institute Inc., a Center for Health and Education since 2008.  She is the current president of the Philippine College of Lifestyle Medicine, and a proctor for the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine,   She is the founding Chairman of the Adventist Medical Center - Bacolod Lifestyle Medicine Center, consultant of Antique Medical Center - Lifestyle Medicine Center and the Medical Director of Health and Gospel Ministry.  Dr. Palma pioneered the development of Lifestyle Medicine Education curriculum in two universities in the Philippines and serves as adjunct professor for the Adventist University of the Philippines College of Medicine and College of Health, and the Philippine Christian University.  She also served as the Director of Education for the Asian Society of Lifestyle Medicine from January 2018 to January 2020.
Dr. Palma earned her Medical Education at Iloilo Doctors College of Medicine and have residential training on Family and Community Medicine at Antique Medical Center.  She had her post-doctoral degree in Master of Management in Hospital Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Administration at the Philippine Christian University.  She had a Residential Lifestyle Medicine training at Black Hills Health and Education Center, South Dakota mentored by Dr. John Kelly, the founding president of American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Palma was among the first six Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician in Asia who successfully passed the Inaugural Diplomate Exam conducted by the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine in 2017 and was consecutively awarded as Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine in 2018.    
 
She actively conducts training programs and seminars in Wellness and Lifestyle Medicine, Culinary Medicine and Medicinal farming and Urban Organic Gardening under several programs of the Philippine government. She is an active resource person of different government agencies, local government units, peoples organization, religious groups, schools and universities in several regions of the country since year 2008. 

She is an active member of the Philippine Medical Association, Philippine Academy of Family Physicians, Bone & Joint Care Association of the Philippines, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
